DOORBEAM COLLECTION, UNITED STRANGERS.

Briefed with the task to reclaim an unwanted material, to give a new life to something which by all means had died. Traditional Chinese architecture had distinct bold door ways, made from solid wood beams, these doors represented the entrance to a personal world. As modern architecture and modern technologies advanced, traditonal details such as these doorways became outdated, however the material remained. We saw this as an opportunity, a chance to offer a second life for these once renowned slabs of wood. Designed for United Strangers and first showcased at the Shanghai International Furniture Exhibition 2016.
